I run BookReady, and I'll be straight with you: we're new at this. I built the ARC program after watching three of my own books launch into silence with no reviews, because the review-trade groups everyone recommended either ghosted me or gave me three-line drive-bys.
What I can promise on day one is the part I have full control over: reviewers I've personally screened in your genre, a 14-day match window with money back on any unmatched slots, FTC-disclosed reviews, and your manuscript handled like the thing you spent two years writing â encrypted, locked to your batch, and gone in 24 hours after the last reader finishes.
What I can't promise is that every reviewer will love your book. They're not supposed to. The whole pitch is that the reviews are honest, and honest sometimes hurts. The flip side: every reader is genre-matched, so they're already inclined toward your kind of book, and the harsh reads tend to be the most useful ones.
Real author quotes will replace this block as soon as our first runs finish and authors give us permission. We'd rather show you nothing than fake testimonials.
Reviewers are assigned within 2â5 business days of upload (Launch tier goes to the front of the matching queue). First reviews typically post 3â4 weeks after they receive the file, readers commit to a 21-day window and we follow up at 7, 14, and 21 days. Slow ones get replaced from a substitution pool. You're not waiting in silence: you get a notification email the moment each review goes live.
Reviews are honest. That's the whole pitch, readers are never told what to write, and we don't filter for stars. The flip side is that every reviewer is genre-matched, so they're already the audience your book is for. Some reviews come back tough; some authors fix bugs based on them; some authors find blurb-worthy quotes in the harshest reads. If you want only 5-stars, this isn't the program for you.
Every reviewer applied via our /become-a-reviewer form with a real name, real email, and their genres. They agreed in writing to include FTC-compliant disclosure on every review, and they get paid a flat fee per approved review published on BookReady (not per positive review, and never for posting anywhere else). We track completion rate, readers who flake on three assignments are removed. We don't pretend to verify identity to government-ID levels, but every review is traceable to a real reader who finished the book.
We guarantee assignment, if we can't match enough reviewers to your tier within 14 days, the unmatched slots are refunded automatically, no email or support ticket required. We don't guarantee every assigned reader will post on time; readers go quiet for life reasons. What we do: follow up at 7, 14, and 21 days, replace flakes from the substitution pool, and notify you the moment each review goes live. We haven't been running long enough to publish a meaningful completion-rate number, when we have one based on real finished runs, it'll go here.
Uploaded encrypted (AES-256). Stored in a per-author folder on our server that only your assigned reviewers can reach via a one-time download link. Everything is auto-deleted 24 hours after the last reviewer downloads, file, folder, and audit trail. We never email manuscripts to anyone, never use them for AI training, and never read them ourselves outside of moderation. If you want it gone sooner, email [email protected] with the order ID and it's purged the same day.
